Insurance Law

Insurance law is a specialist branch within commercial law. It comprises the rules governing the operations of businesses engaged in insurance activities. Its scope includes insurance cover and responsibilities relating to individuals, legal entities and intermediaries. Compensation for losses falling within insurance cover is governed by insurance law. Disputes over the non-payment or delayed payment of entitlements under policies are addressed under these rules.

An insurance contract is an agreement under which, in return for a premium, the insurer undertakes to compensate for loss when a risk affecting a person's interest measurable in money occurs.
